Job description

We hate social media. We love studying people.

Trigger isn’t a scheduler and it doesn’t generate content. The world has enough of those. Trigger is a computational creativity layer.

We study context and human behavior to explain why content works, predict how it will perform, and recommend what to publish next - improving social performance by understanding people, not by posting more.

Trigger is backed by Builders (AI-native venture studio) and is in an early validation stage with paying design partners.

About Trigger

Creativity today is evaluated by vibes, intuition, and vanity metrics. We believe it can be understood, modeled, and improved.

Trigger ingests multimodal creative assets (video, image, text) and performance signals, then uses contextual analytics and behavioral frameworks to:

  • decode and cluster content

  • label creative patterns

  • explain performance outcomes

  • support better creative decisions

Our behavioral framework is built on 10+ years of content analysis, used to take multiple companies from 0 to 1M+ followers, and is currently validated with social-first companies averaging 500k+ followers.

There is strong demand (1,000+ companies on the waiting list). The bottleneck is product.

The role

We’re hiring a Founding Engineer with a clear path to CTO. You’ll architect and build Trigger’s core cognitive engine: the system that turns creative behavior into understanding. This is a hands-on builder role with real ownership from day one.

You’ll work closely with Federico Motta (content psychology & narrative intelligence). Federico brings the why; you build the how.

What you'll do

  • Design and build the core architecture of Trigger’s AI + product stack

  • Implement ingestion pipelines, embeddings/RAG, reasoning workflows, and APIs

  • Develop the first Context Graph linking creative assets, signals, and outcomes

  • Ship the Insight & Prediction Engine (why it worked → what to do next)

  • Rapidly prototype, harden what works, and deploy a product used by strategists and creators

  • Define and execute the roadmap that leads to your promotion to CTO

Job requirements

What we're looking for

  • You’ve built and shipped end-to-end AI products (web + AI layer)

  • Strong across backend and AI systems (pipelines, infra, orchestration)

  • Experience with multimodal models is a strong plus

  • Deep familiarity with RAG, vector databases, graph thinking, semantics

  • Strong systems thinking and pragmatic engineering judgment

  • Bias to shipping, iteration, and ownership

  • Interest in storytelling, design, and human behavior

  • Comfortable in early-stage environments with real responsibility

CTO track

This starts as a founding engineer role. Promotion to CTO happens when you’re already operating at CTO level:

  • owning technical vision and architecture

  • setting engineering standards and cadence

  • hiring and leading the first engineers

  • representing the technical thesis with Builders and investors

(No “CTO in name only”.)

Indicative stack

  • Frontend: Next.js, TypeScript, React, Tailwind

  • Backend: TypeScript or Python (Node / FastAPI), tRPC

  • AI: LangGraph / LangChain, OpenAI / Anthropic

  • Data: PostgreSQL, pgvector / Weaviate / Pinecone, optional graph DB

  • Infra: Vercel, Supabase, Railway, Cloudflare

(Stack is flexible. Ownership and shipping matter more.)

Compensation

From day one

  • €60,000–€72,000 salary

  • 2% equity

  • Latest MacBook Pro

  • Monthly travel reimbursement

Upon promotion to CTO

  • All of the above

  • Triple-digit salary

  • +8% equity (10% total)

Hiring process

Fast and focused (max 1 week):

  1. Personality & values conversation

  2. Technical deep dive

  3. Vision & ownership discussion

If there’s a fit, you’ll join us for two weeks in our Rotterdam office to build a Proof of Concept together. After that, you’re in. We ship.
