Strategic Advisor, Leave of absence platform
Location: Remote - USA/CAN
Summary
Diagram Ventures is launching a startup that develops a modern leave of absence platform that creates a simple integrated experience for employees that have to go on a medical or family leave and their organizations that administer those leaves.
As this solution involves integration with many HR systems, we are looking for an advisor to help us scope the technical product roadmap and the go-to-market strategy.
The engagement with the advisor would be part-time and could be converted into a full-time role and/or founder position within the new venture. The advisor would work closely with Diagram’s venture leaders to produce the deliverables and reach the milestones mentioned below. The advisor could be compensated in cash, equity in the new venture or a mix of both.
The opportunity
The US is slowly catching up to the world in terms of parental leave and disability protection. In the last couple of years, 20+ state and federal family and medical leave laws and regulations have emerged. And this is just beginning as many states still don’t have any. While this is positive progress for employees, this brings its challenges to employees, their employers and the organizations processing leave claims. A lot of information has to flow back and forth, creating a painful and stressful experience for employees and costly inefficient operations for the organizations managing the leaves.
We are trying to solve this problem by developing a modern and integrated leave of absence solution. Our platform orchestrates the data between the HR and insurance systems while providing a modern portal to employees going on a leave. This simplifies the claim experience for employees while reducing the burden for managing organizations like carriers or TPAs.
With the help of a few insurance companies as co-design partners and early clients, Diagram Ventures has launched a new venture with the aim of developing a next generation AI-based claims management software. We are now looking to get to the next stage of development with the help of an industry expert as an advisor. The role could evolve into a co-founder position of the newly created venture.
Expectations from the role
In collaboration with Diagram venture’s leadership, the advisor will:
- Act as an internal expert regarding HR systems implementation. Help us understand the important players, their tech stack, the data mapping of different systems, etc.
- Define the systems integration roadmap. Prioritize which platforms we should create integrations with (HRIS, benefits admin, payroll, claims systems, etc.) based on what our target market uses and the integration feasibility.
- Build the product roadmap that aligns with the company’s vision, supports business objectives, and guides the product team in delivering value to customers.
- Identify risks, challenges and feasibility of the different features and products on the roadmap.
- Participate in work sessions with clients to inform product decisions or increase validation or sales efforts.
Background and experience we look for
You’re the ideal candidate if you have:
- Experience with systems implementation between insurance carriers and employers for leave of absence or life and disability products and services
- Experience configuring or integrating HR systems like HRIS, benefits admin and payroll (Workday, ADP, UKG, Businessolver, etc.)
- Experience with Leave of absence of disability claim process
- Industry connections with HR systems (Workday, Businessolver, etc.), claims systems (Fineos, ClaimVantage, etc.) or with insurance carriers and TPAs.
