4 Top Venture Studio Thought Leaders

Helpful Resources Published on June 14

As more content and discussion emerges about venture studios, we want to highlight a few of the key thought leaders that are making a difference (in no particular order). Here are four of the best that are contributing content, thought leadership and building community for venture studios, startup studios and venture builders:

Jake Hurwitz

Jake is the founder of Thursday Labs, a new type of content company for founders and investors. In August 2023 he launched The Gallery, a media publication for startup studios. He interviews startup and venture studio founders, investors and others and digs deep into the various models. Some of his interviewees have included Mike Jones, CEO of Science Inc., Elliott Parker, CEO of High Alpha Innovation, Amanda Poole, VP Talent at DVx Ventures and Michael van Lier, Founder and MD at Builders.

Dianna Lesage

Dianna is a strategic advisor to venture studios, builders and startup studios. She runs the Startup Studio Newsletter and produces a lot of great content on LinkedIn, including The Rise of Revival Studios and The Studio Value Add Deck.

Dianna also maintains the Global Venture Studio Database, which is perhaps the most comprehensive directory of venture studios available. (Note: This costs $20, but it's worth it if you're researching studios.)

Max Pog

Max Pog is the founder of Venture Studio Family, a community for venture studios to learn and share from one another. He runs very entertaining and valuable online conferences for venture studios, investors and LPs, trying to grow the overall venture studio community. You won't forget one of Max's events - he's often showing off his nunchucks skills, pulling out interesting props and keeping the audience entertained and engaged.

Max continues to deliver some of the most in-depth and accurate research on venture studios, which is valuable for the entire ecosystem.

Matthew Burris

Matt Burris is a Partner at Venture Studio Associates, which is a consulting firm to help new venture studios launch. They've worked with a variety of studios including Atomic, Purpose Built and others.

Matt produces a ton of incredible content on LinkedIn and on his website. For example, he has a large collection of venture studio decks and a list of investors that have invested in startups emerging from venture studios. Matt is willing to tackle and share his point of view on delicate topics, such as why investors often don't like the studio model.
